From Surviving Summer, to Savouring the Days

Halcyon: Rituals & Rhythms

Design a summer that holds the whole family, starting with you.

I have a confession.

It used to trigger the HELL out of me when I saw other mums counting down to the Summer holidays with unbridled excitement.

"Last week of school! Friday can't come soon enough."

“Four more days! Can't wait to have my babies home all summer long!"

Errrrr. No. This was not my experience.

I might have nodded and agreed back then. But inside? The impending sense of doom was building.

I knew everybody needed a break from school, and I was excited about that part.

No more dragging my kids out of bed every single day.
No more ironing uniform.
A whole six weeks off the incessant chatter in the class WhatsApp.

I was looking forward to that, sure.

But having my children off school for six weeks didn’t exactly feel like a holiday either.

Because it's not all a holiday is it?

There's the ever rising cost of a basic day out, dishing out snacks from dawn till dusk, and the now pretty almost inevitable heatwaves.

I knew I was set to lose the plot somewhere around the middle of week two.

In my heart, I dreamed of a magical, adventure-filled summer.

The kind we’d all get misty eyed looking back on, one day.

The reality, once those first few days arrived, was something closer to survival.

So, I decided to do something about it.

I created the guide I wish I’d had 3 years ago: Halcyon.

What you actually want

Not a perfect summer. A present one.

You want to feel confident in what you've planned, without it being relentless.

Picture it: You, this September, happy-tired, full of gratitude. Not because you scheduled every last minute or committed to being a children's entertainer for six weeks straight — we are not about that life over here.

But because you did the groundwork.

Nothing came completely out of left field.

And you ended up having the kind of summer you’re already describing as: ‘the perfect balance.’

Imagine overhearing your kids, 10 years from now — teenagers, WTH? — telling their friends: "In our family, every summer we...." And then you hear them proudly relaying the exact summer traditions you started building way back in 2026.

Here's what changes this summer

Halcyon: Rituals & Rhythms is a self-paced guide that walks you through every part of the summer picture.

You’ll be gently steered towards starting by making space for the things that fill your cup, prompted to actually reflect on the special traditions your family have already begun to make- or that you want to start- and shown how to write the rhythms that make the whole thing feel easy, rather than exhausting.

You tend to yourself first. Then your family. Then the logistics that make it all possible.

Weaving in the values that matter to you, and putting to use the wisdom you already hold about what your children really need.

Halcyon’s interactive playbook — with audio guidance — is designed to help you drop into what you want this Summer to really feel like before you plan anything.

No live calls. No dates in the diary. Work through it entirely in your own time.

You could sit down and do the whole thing over a evening.

Or take 15 to 20 minutes a day across a week so you have time to really think, feel into it, and let the ideas land.

Once you're done?

The kind of summer that you're actually counting down to.

Self Paced Coaching for Mums

Hi, I'm Torie. I’m a coach & mother who has had every version of the summer holidays.

The overwhelmed one.

The survival one.

The one where I forgot to factor myself in at all.

Last year I decided to rewrite the summer holiday story for myself.

Instead of lamenting the fact that my husband couldn't get much time off work, I whisked my kids off to the Highlands on a three week adventure. We met up with friends, went off grid for a while, got stuck in a storm and were nearly stranded in our remote cottage.

Instead of missing our flight home, we clambered across a mountain carrying only what we could manage — just half of what we'd brought — ending with a very dramatic ‘Going on a Bear Hunt’ style river crossing where I had to carry my kids across one by one on my back.

Definitely more of an adventure than we bargained for.

It was also the best Summer we've ever had.

The difference wasn't the destination — we go back to the same spot every year and we had plenty of time kicking about at home afterwards.

It was that I went in knowing what I needed. I held the overview. I asked for help. I made decisions — like booking paid childcare that my children would rather have skipped— because I am realistic about what I need and what I prioritise for all of us.

Halcyon holds everything I needed to make our dream summer happen — and more.

And I've made it into a guide for you.

Here's what happens when mothers stop surviving and start planning with intention…

Do any of these sound familiar?

  • You love the idea of the summer holidays — lazy mornings, the space you've been craving all year — but the reality never quite matches up.

  • You've saved dozens of posts. Activities, places to visit, recipes you're going to make. But mustering up the energy to do them? Different story

  • You start strong. Lose steam around week two. Every. Single. Year.

  • You're juggling work, not-quite-enough childcare, and producing roughly eleven billion-ty snacks every single day.

  • Your suggestions are being met with 'BORING,' before anyone's given them a chance.

  • By the end of August, you're already desperate for the first day of term. And then you feel guilty about that too.
